Spanish trials rider Toni Bou made history during the weekend when the Repsol Montesa team rider took out the second last round of the FIM X-Trial Indoor World Championship in Milan - his sixth consecutive title.
With one round left in Paris, France, Toni Bou has six titles under his belt, and is now the best performing indoor trials rider the world has ever seen, having overtaken Dougie Lampkin's five titles.
The Spaniard has won the Trials Indoor World Championship in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and now 2012, but Toni Bou is not just an indoor trials expert - he also has five outdoor championships to his name and could make it six if he wins in 2012.
The 26-year old rider has plenty more fuel in the tank to compete at the upper-echelons of the sport and could easily add to his indoor and outdoor title. Indeed, his records are unlikely to be surpassed (at least for another decade).
Of interest to our local readership, Bou will be coming to Australia in late may for the Australian round of the Trial World Championship, which is a landmark event for this country - the first time the championship has ever come to Australia.
Running between May 26 to 27, the event will take place in the south-east of Australia, Victoria, at Mt Tarrengower, near Maldon.
Tickets for the even can be purchased before May 1 and are priced at $26 for a two-day pass, and just $16 for those aged between 10 and 16. Kids under 10 years will be admitted for free.
Better yet, the practice days on May 24-25 will be free entry, so you catch multiple world champions Toni Bou, Adam Raga and Dougie Lampkin warming up their precision skills on Aussie soil.
Australia is the only round of the Trial World Championship to be held in the Southern Hemisphere. For more details, check out WTCaustralia.com.au.
