The Australian Grand Prix Corporation has announced the on-track schedule for the 2013 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Islands from October 16-18.
The Australian round is the third last on the 2013 calendar, featuring Perth’s Bryan Staring in MotoGP, while the Moto2 and Moto3 categories will once again feature a talented trio of Australians – Anthony West, Arthur Sissis and Jack Miller -- looking to build on last year’s success and mix it with the world’s best.
Fans at the event will also be treated to an extra MotoGP practice session and a new MotoGP qualifying format on the Saturday, designed to intensify the drama. In addition, the best home-grown racers in the country will compete in the Superbike/Prostock and Supersport support categories.
And as previously announced, the Australian Supercross Championship is set to return to Phillip Island again this year.
“In this new era of MotoGP, all eyes will be watching with great anticipation to witness the crowning of the new King of Phillip Island,” said Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, Andrew Westacott.
“With five separate categories of racing all featuring Australian riders on one of the world’s most picturesque circuits as well as two championship rounds of supercross, we have a fantastic line-up for fans this October.”
