Toby Price has taken to social media to announce he and Red Bull KTM have parted ways, confirming that the 2024 Dakar Rally was the last event he’d ride in Austrian factory’s colours.
While it was known that the two-time Dakar winner and former Rally World Champion wasn’t entered in the remaining four rounds of the 2024 championship after competing in the Dakar curtain raiser, Price used the inevitable questions surrounding the situation to announce the separation, referring to the split as “personal news”.
“Everyone has been asking me about what events I’ll be riding in this year,” he wrote on his social media channels. “But in some personal news, KTM has decided to not renew my contract, so Dakar 2024 was my last event with them.
“I do feel like I’m still in my prime and going out there fighting for wins, especially at Dakar, so it’s unfortunate to not have that opportunity to do it in 2025, but I’m really appreciative of the support they gave me in my career.
“We’ve been able to do some great things together like win two Dakars and get a couple of podiums, a World Championship, and our success in Australia, too.”
Price went on to say he was looking forward to the future, though didn’t expand on what that may be.
“For now my focus is on the 2024 SCORE International Championship with Team Australia and to see what comes next.”
The SCORE series he refers to is the American-based World Desert Championship in which he’s raced a trophy truck on and off since 2017.
