The custom bike scene is often associated with cafe racers, cruisers, naked bikes, hardtails and other classic styles, but don't think that sports bikes are forgotten.
Motorcycle clothing brand Icon has created a number of customs in the past, but this one stands out as a relatively modern ('90s modern) take on motorcycle customisation.
Called the Thunder Chunky, the bike is based on a 1994 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-7R, a 748cc sports bike that is often fondly remembered as one of the Suzuki GSX-R750s few three-quarter litre rivals.
The most obvious changes made by Icon are cosmetic - all new fairing and bodywork was fabricated by Airtech Streamlining, and is finished in an urban-camo theme. It's all topped off with unique headlights that include ruggedly styled crash bars for the cowl, which feature yellow tints for the dual beam headlight and pair of micro spot lights for good measure.
Combine the custom bodywork and unusual front end treatment with a green/yellow windscreen, stubby Leo Vince MotoGP-inspired side exhaust and black anodised and forged 'Assault' wheels from Performance Machine and you're left with a captivating mid '90s custom street bike.
Other tweaks to the Thunder Chunky include new chassis bits and pieces, designed to make the bike a little sharper through corners. Suspension is now Ohlins forks and Ohlins rear shock, the brakes are Tokico jobbies and Attack Racing supplied the triple clamp.
The tyres are also changed - Dunlop D616 rubber with semi-gravel tread pattern - and the 748cc four-cylinder engine pumps out a respectable 120hp (88kW).
