Thieves nick 150 bikes in NZ raid

Forklift hotwired to steal more than 150 motorcycles in a marathon six-hour robbery

New Zealand Police said that on Sunday night (Spetember 20) robbers broke into a building in West Auckland and stole dozens of scooters and kid-sized quad bikes.

Bikes, worth nearly $160,000 that were still packed in cardboard boxes on pallets were removed using a warehouse's own hot-wired forklift.

The theft would have taken the robbers up to six hours.

"Whoever has done this is obviously going to try and sell them and we need people to be vigilant," Detective Shaun Galbraith said.

"If you see a bike like this for sale and you suspect it may be stolen, please let us know."

A ute and 75 four-litre containers of motor oil were also taken.

What was stolen:
>> 30 V-Sport Eurorider scooters each valued at $1500
>> 15 Presto 50cc scooters each valued at $2000
>> 12 Pantera scooters each valued at $2500
>> 109 Mini Quad bikes each valued at around $500
>> 75 four-litre containers of Sinteck motor oil
>> A white 2003 Mitsubishi Triton ute
