I wonder what The Late Show would make of the soon to be opened Ferrari World Abu Dhabi?
Because it was the now-defunct comedy sketch on ABC which used to send up all those tawdry Australian "theme parks" with its own satirical attraction called "Piss Weak World".
At PWW, a bloke (well, an unkempt Mick Molloy) sprayed you with a garden hose at the entry gates, and it only got worse from there.
But Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, due to open on October 28, is certainly no embarrassment.
It will host more than 20 rides and attractions, including the world's fastest rollercoaster which will propel patrons (suckers?) to speeds of up to 240km/h in just five seconds.
There will also be state-of-the-art racing simulators, a flume ride through the heart of a Ferrari 599 V-12 engine (without oil, I presume…), a driving and racing school for junior drivers, a fantasy 4-D journey, 62m tower ride, and an aerial voyage over Italy following a Ferrari. And of course plenty of dining and shopping.
The park is located on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, where the Yas Island Circuit is also located. For the designers among us, its roof is inspired by the classic double curve side profile of the Ferrari GT body and has a total surface are of 200,00 square metres.
No mention of admission prices yet, but you can probably assume it will set you back more than a visit to The Big Banana in Coffs Harbour.
