The green light to run red lights?

It could happen in the American state of Georgia, particularly in the situation where lights run on sensors instead of timers

The American state of Georgia is considering giving motorcycle riders the option to run a red light after waiting 60 seconds if the light doesn't change.

In Georgia, many lights still run on sensors instead of being on a timer – as is the case in Australia. The problem is that motorcycles are too light to trigger those sensors, leaving bikers to sit and wait with no result.

And it’s infuriating – especially early in the morning where there are no other cars around to assist the activation process.

Many motorcycle organisations from around the state are backing the proposal.

If the bill is passed, Georgia would become the ninth American state having legislation aimed at bikers sitting at red lights.

Would it work in Australia? Have your say in the comments section below.
