Think eye-catching custom Harley-Davidsons and thoughts often turn to US tuners from the west coast. But this impressive specimen, based on an H-D XL 1200 Custom, is in fact from Japan.
Created by Nice! Motorcycles, based in Kobe City in the Hyogo Prefecture, the XL 1200 has been totally reworked - the end result a head-turning classic design that makes the factory standard bike look, well, a bit boring.
Some of the changes include a nicely integrated bobbed fender, a triple clamp with clip-on bars and a compact headlight unit. The side panels have been ditched which exposes more of the bikes innards, and the customised XL 1200 has been dumped lower to the ground with new rear shocks.
Custom exhausts are also part of the package.
A new seat unit with an ultra short tail section adds street cred, and Nice! Motorcycles has also bolted a new fuel tank onto the bike, which ties the new styling cues together appropriately.
Brakes and wheels are also new, contributing to improved performance, as are the Gold Wing-spec Dunlop Elite II tyres.
The Japanese tuner has also added an air filter to the Harley engine.
No specific output is given, but several customisers have managed to generate around 100hp from the XL 1200's V-twin engine, so it wouldn't be impossible to see this jaw-dropping design possessing the sort of tyre-smoking power to do it justice.
