It’s been a long time coming but Suzuki’s next-generation V-Strom 1000 is nearly here – and Bikesales Network has just ridden it, at the model’s local press launch in New Zealand’s North Island.
Bikesales Network regular Rod Chapman has put the model to the test over a winding and varied route from Napier to Palmerston North, dodging only a few suicidal sheep while taking in just about every variety of road you care to think of. He said the newie represents a very worthy progression for the V-Strom family.
“It’s lighter, appreciably sharper in most respects, more refined, and its front brakes offer a world of improvement over the old V-Strom 1000,” he said.
“With its non-switchable ABS it’s a tarmac-focussed adventure bike, but for anyone on the hunt for a capable, practical and comfortable all-rounder it’s got plenty to offer. Throw in very competitive pricing – $15,490 (plus on-roads) – and the new V-Strom 1000 will fill a present void in Suzuki’s line-up very nicely,” he added.
