It’s come from left field this one: Pierre Terblanche, the South African-born motorcycle designer known for projects like the Ducati 749/999 sportsbikes, has now joined Royal Enfield after less than two years at American company, Confederate Motorcycles, as product development manager.
Siddhartha Lal, the CEO of Eicher which owns Royal Enfield, said: "I am very excited that Pierre Terblanche has recently joined our team; he is one of the most prolific industrial designers for motorcycles, and is best known for having created some extraordinary motorcycles as the head of design for Ducati for over a decade.”
Terblanche will be the head designer at Royal Enfield, as the company forges ahead with an expansionary path which, according to www.indiancarsbikes.in incudes an adventure bike and a new 400cc engine to power upcoming models. With Terblanche now a part of the team, we’d expect his imprint will be all over these new products.
Royal Enfield’s latest release, the Continental GT café racer (pictured), has been a big success for the company.
Terblanche particularly made his name at Ducati and Cagiva, and he’s also worked for Piaggio as well. At Confederate, he had a hand in the design for the new X132 Hellcat Speedster.
