Teenager rides through supermarket
A 14-year-old boy from Bacchus Marsh has ridden his dirt bike through a shopping mall, eventually smashing through glass doors
A teenaged boy shocked and terrorised shoppers when he rode his dirt bike flat-knacker through a supermarket near Bacchus Marsh in the Australian state of Victoria.
Update: The young rider, Riva Tallent, aged 14, has been interviewed by police and may face court. He said he would sell his Kawasaki dirt bike to pay for the smashed glass doors at the IGA supermarket and admitted it was a stupid thing to do. "It was just stupid. I wouldn't do it again," said the youth.
He revealed that the stunt was concocted in order to try and earn money through YouTube, which will often pay money for high rating videos.
Police confirmed that Riva Tallent may face 'dangerous driving', 'driving without a licence', and 'conduct endangering life' charges.
It has also emerged that accomplices who were supposed to keep the electronic glass doors open panicked and fled, which led to Tallent slamming into them and smashing them.
Riding a green and white dirt bike, he proceeded to enter the supermarket at around 5:30pm on Monday evening and rode around the foyer area near the checkouts, reportedly forcing shoppers to dive out his way.
After a short time, he then turned around, headed back for the main entrance and allegedly slammed on the brakes to avoid hitting the sensor-operated front doors, leaving a 10-metre skid mark in his wake.
However the young rider wasn't quick enough with the brakes, and slammed into the main doors, shattering the glass upon impact. Perhaps he could be a candidate for the European Commission's prototype throttle control system.
The rider was then set upon by supermarket workers, but was released after an unidentified woman -- believed to be related to the rider -- flew into a rage and demanded the boy be let go.
Eventually, the woman and the teenaged motorcycle rider escaped and police are currently searching for them. The authorities are seeking help from anyone who was in the supermarket at the time, in order to identify the perpetrators.
