There’ll be no changes to Yamaha Australia’s road racing line-up with Wayne Maxwell, Glenn Allerton and Cru Halliday all confirmed for their 2016 assault on the Australasian Superbike Championship (ASC) aboard the YZF-R1M. During the 2015 ASC season, the trio racked up four round wins from six attempts in the all-new bike’s debut year in the domestic racing scene.
“I’m really looking forward to 2016 and the second year working with the Yamaha Racing team and the R1,” said Maxwell, who missed out on the 2015 title by just one point to Honda’s Troy Herfoss. “We came so close to winning the championship in 2015 and I know that everyone at YRT is determined to get the championship back in their hands.”
Three-time Australian champion Glenn Allerton struggled to come to terms with the new bike in the early stages of the season but finished strongly claim third place. Halliday, who won his first Superbike race in 2015 in his third year of trying, finished the season in sixth place.
The first round of the season will kick off on March 11 at Sydney Motorsport Park.
