BMW Motorrad has unveiled a web page detailing the range of go-fast HP (High Performance) goodies it's released to enhance its updated sporting flagship, the S 1000 RR (see the Bikesales Network's press launch review of the 2012-spec machine here). Aimed at racers and track-day hounds who want to extract every last drop of the bike's sporting potential, some of the S 10000 RR's HP parts are for track use only, as they aren't road legal.
The range comprises items like an HP Race Power Kit (including a full titanium Akrapovic exhaust system, said to boost power by 5hp while weighing some 7kg less than the stock system), an HP Race Calibration Tool (allowing owners to adjust parameters for the bike's ignition, fuel injection, traction control and more), an HP Datalogger (which lets riders analyse data of their riding on a laptop), an HP footrest set, an HP reverse pattern gearshift, and an HP Race Cover Kit (which plugs the gaps in the bike's bodywork left after removing the mirrors, rego plate and so on for track use).
To explain the benefits of the S 1000 RR's HP range, BMW's dedicated web page features a series of short videos shot in the workshop of BMW Motorrad Motorsport's headquarters in Rosenheim, Germany. The videos feature BMW's Product Manager for HP Race Parts, Michael Thewke, who explains the advantages and operation of each of the HP range's components.
