TAC competition fails to inspire

A ‘hints and tips' competition has fizzled, receiving only two submissions – but the winner gets a $2300 package to attend this weekend's Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix

A competition sponsored by Victoria’s statutory insurance arm, the Transport Accident Commission, has been an abject disaster, receiving only two individual entrants.

The ‘Hints and Tips’ competition asked for riders to submit safety videos for its website, but the tepid response left judges with a relatively easy decision to select a winner.

And that person is Neil Wiltshire (see video below), who has won himself a $2300 thrill-a-minute Phillip Island package, which includes two three-day grandstand passes for this weekend’s IVECO Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix, a helicopter ride over the circuit, and a hot lap in the course car. The bounty also includes advanced rider training courtesy of HART.

The TAC’s embarrassment would have been further compounded by an anonymous caller blowing the whistle on the competition’s shortcomings on the ‘Rumour File’, a segment on Melbourne’s most popular radio station, 3AW.
