TAC campaign hits the spot

After a number of underwhelming efforts, Victoria's Transport Accident Commission has produced a new campaign that delivers the right message

Its recent television advertisements were universally panned for painting a broad brush over motorcyclists as a bunch of irresponsible hoons, but Victoria’s Transport Accident Commission (TAC) – via its motorcycle arm spokes.com.au – has now changed tact in its new campaign.

The latest advertisement (see below) from Spokes -- called 'The Perfect Ride' -- takes a different approach, showing recreational riders being faced with a variety of ‘obstacles’ and unforseen situations during a ride along the Great Ocean Road – realistic scenarios facing normal riders.

The advertisement encourages riders to manage personal risk, while four tutorial videos of about two minutes in length have also been developed to address key safety issues such as speed, cornering, road position, road surfaces, and other road users. To view the tutorials, visit www.youtube.com/user/TACVictoria.

What do you think? Has the TAC got it tight this time?
