Swann launches future bike

Tim Cameron design unveiled by Stoner

Swann Insurance recently unveiled its vision of the motorcycle of the future, using the Sydney event to announce Casey Stoner as its safety ambassador.

The Tim Cameron Design motorcycle takes two key approaches to prevent big crash bills: the first is a range of electronics to avoid a collision in the first place, and the second a host of small sacrificial panels over vulnerable areas of the machine which can be replaced cheaply and easily.

The electronics include anti-lock brakes, a variety of sensors warning of risks such as sidestand down and low tyre pressure, proximity warning devices (including one which warns parking cars if they get too close) and a sensor system which warns a rider when there's something in the blind spot of their mirrors.

"It's really just common sense design. I drew from some of my own frustrating experiences as a motorcyclist," said Cameron.

There are no immediate plans to put the machine into production.
