Suzuki has unveiled a 30th anniversary production GSX-R1000 at Sachsenring in Germany that will be available soon from Suzuki dealerships globally.
The bike is finished in the same limited-edition blue and white scheme that will be debuted on-track by Aleix Espargarò and Maverick Viñales at this weekend’s MotoGP round.
In Australia, we'll see that livery on the GSX-R750, which will retail for $15,990 when it goes on sale in early October 2015. The 30th anniversary GSX-R1000 will be in red and black livery and retail for $18,490, available from September 2015.
Both anniversary models will feature a special “30 Years of Performance” commemorative badge on the fuel tank, and the GSX-R10000 will have anti-lock braking for the first time in Australia.
The famed GSX-R range started with the GSX-R750 in 1985, with Aussie Rob Phillis taking the bike to its world debut win in a three-hour production race at Adelaide International Raceway.
The evolution of the GSX-R lies with its predecessor, the GS, which started many riders and teams on the path to victory. The Suzuki GS series was Suzuki Motor Corporation's first full range of four-stroke road bikes, launched in 1976 in 750cc guise; which then expanded to include smaller GS550, GS1000, GS125 and GS1200SS models over the years. However, it was the 750 and 1000cc models that drove development on the race track and led-to the development of a new breed of motorcycle; the GSX-R.
