Suzuki has returned to its ancestry, re-introducing a naked version of the legendary Bandit which first graced Australian shores way back in 1996.
The new Bandit 1250 and ABS-equipped Bandit 1250A are powered by the same 1255cc big-bore liquid-cooled DOHC engine found in the faired Bandit 1250S.
“With its bold look, the new, naked Suzuki Bandit 1250 gives riders even more choice and is set to be a tremendous addition to Suzuki’s model line-up,” Perry Morison, General Manager, Motorcycles, Suzuki Australia said. “Like the popular Bandit 1250S, it delivers great performance, style and plenty of value.”
The Bandit 1250 features a number of technical innovations, including Suzuki’s Dual Valve Throttle (SDTV) fuel-injection system for claimed better throttle response, smoother power output, improved fuel economy and reduced emissions, and Suzuki Idle Speed Control (ISC) for improved cold starting.
A high-volume muffler combines with the engine management system, Suzuki’s Pulsed Air Injection (PAIR) system and an oxygen sensor to minimise the Bandit 1250’s emissions.
Elsewhere is the level of specification expected – a six-speed transmission, hydraulic clutch, preload-adjustable suspension, and 310mm front discs mated to four-piston calipers.
There’s also a 19-litre fuel tank, three-spoke cast wheels, analogue tacho and digital speedo.
The Bandit 1250 is available now for $11,490*, with the Bandit 1250A to follow in a few weeks at $11,990*. Both have two-year unlimited-kilometre warranties.
Meanwhile, the 2009 incarnations of the faired Bandit 1250S and 1250SA (ABS) models will be available in Australia in the coming weeks, in candy blue liveries, at $11,990* and $12,490* respectively.
