One of the few bright spots on Suzuki’s dull stand at the 2012 Tokyo Motorcycle Show in March was the slick-looking Inazuma 250, which is doing big things in the Chinese market badged as the GW250.
At the time, Suzuki didn’t have any plans to bring the Inazuma down under, preferring to stick with its retro and low-tech TU250X and Intruder 250 to fill the 250cc road bike space, but that’s now changed with news that the machine – which means 'the lighting that strikes in a thunderstorm' in Japanese – is on its way here, and will go on sale in November, 2012 for $4990.
The Inazuma is pitched at commuters to newly licensed riders looking to take the next step, and has a liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, SOHC, in-line, twin-cylinder engine with a six-speed transmission
The rear suspension features seven-way adjustable spring preload, and styling wise there’s a small, sharp head cowl, distinctively shaped headlights, and integrated front turn signals. The instrument panel features a digital gear indicator, maintenance reminders and a three-mode rpm indicator (Normal, Eco and Off modes) with a large analogue tachometer in the centre, accompanied by a digital LCD speedometer, odometer, twin trip meter, clock and fuel gauge readouts as well as LED indicators.
There will be two colour schemes: Pearl Nebular Black and Candy Cardinal Red. For more information on the Inazuma, contact your local Suzuki dealer.
Meanwhile, the TU250X will continue to remain a part of Suzuki’s local line-up.
