Suzuki confirms MotoGP return
The Japanese manufacturer has declared it will be back in 2015, and the testing has already started with French ride Randy de Puniet impressing on the in-line fourSuzuki has confirmed it will return to MotoGP racing in 2015, using an engine format it’s all over -- a 1000cc in-line four-cylinder.
Testing has already begun in Japan and Europe, with the latest outing at Catalunya following last Sunday’s MotoGP round a very impressive one. Test rider Randy de Puniet – a CRT pilot in 2013 – was eighth overall, just 0.772 seconds behind Jorge Lorenzo’s Yamaha.
“I am satisfied because the first test at Motegi (in Japan) was quite good and now we are at a GP track, with most of the other riders and running in the same conditions," said de Puniet. “I think we did a great job because I’m only 0.7 seconds slower than the best lap time today and after only 50 or 60 laps; all of the other riders have already been here for three days. I am satisfied, but think we could be even faster if we had one more day.
"Anyway, it’s a good start because we now go to Aragon (Spain) for a two-day test, so I really hope to do the same job and have the same feeling with the bike."
Suzuki’s two-day Aragon test will run from June 19, sharing the track with Repsol Honda Team, Yamaha Factory Racing and LCR Honda MotoGP.
Suzuki first suspended MotoGP activity at the end of the 2011 season.
