Suzuki will lift the lid on two new concept bikes at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, which opens on November 23.
The first one is the Recursion, which has a small and light engine which is then primed with a sophisticated turbo-charging system – far removed from the light-switch, seat-of-your-pants set-ups of yore.
The Recursion’s engine is a 588cc parallel twin with an intercooler turbo, and is said to produce 100hp at 8000rpm and a delicious 100Nm at just 4500rpm. As a comparison, 600cc supersport machines produce around 70Nm.
The second concept is the Extrigger electric bike. The name is derived from Ex, which stands for Electric Cross (X) over, and Trigger, which means a chance.
Suzuki says that while “it feels like a toy bike”, it has an aluminum frame, inverted forks, and front and rear disc brakes.
Other bikes on the Suzuki stand in Tokyo will include the new V-Strom 1000, a Japanese-spec Hayabusa with an electronic toll collection system (a first for bikes), the Burgman 200, and the company’s MotoGP prototype racer that will re-enter competition in 2015.
And standby for more concepts from the other Japanese manufacturers at the biennial Tokyo Motor Show.
