Suzuki is not having a good week. Only a few days after it announced it would cease selling Suzuki cars in the USA - after 30 years of doing so - the motor company has confirmed it will shut down motorcycle production in Spain, citing a sluggish market.
The Japanese company said it will "terminate all of their [Suzuki Motor Espana] Spanish-based motorcycle production activities by the end of the first quarter of 2013."
"The decision was ultimately made due to accumulated losses created by the reduction and general condition of the economy in Europe at present," said Suzuki.
What this will mean for European and UK customers is that some models will now be sourced from other countries, such as the Suzuki Burgman 125, 200 and GZ125, pictured.
The motor company says that it's business as usual, and that "Owners of these models can remain confident that parts supply, warranty and general aftercare of these models will remain available through Suzuki GB's comprehensive dealer network."
Suzuki has not confirmed where the previously Spanish-built model will be sourced from in future but says "alternative models built at Suzuki's Asian country production plants will be considered for the European market".
