American John Hopkins and Aussie Chris Vermeulen (pictured) were dominant in the test sessions, also intended as a shake-down of their latest generation Bridgestone rubber.
On the second day, Hopkins got inside Loris Capirossi's lap record by half a second with a lap time of 2:01.63. Vermeulen scored a best of 2:02.04.
Hopkins said: "It's great for the team to have such a good package at this time and morale is higher than it ever has been in my career at Suzuki. We don't want to get too excited because there were a couple of very fast riders not at this test, but right now we can't wait for the next test as it seems things are starting to happen!”
One of the missing riders was Valentino Rossi, who was off playing with his second motorsport love -- rallying.
