First launched in India late last year, the scooter is now expanding its footprint into western markets

Suzuki Australia has given the green light for the introduction of the new Avenis 125 scooter into the local market.

The sharply styled Avenis 125 will take its place alongside the Suzuki Address 110 in the firm’s scooter line-up when it goes on sale in the first quarter of 2023, powered by a single-cylinder, two-valve air-cooled engine (8.7hp/10Nm) which meets Euro 5 emissions.

It has a ubiquitous CVT transmission and Suzuki’s ‘Eco Performance’ technology that’s claimed to optimise all aspects of engine efficiency.

The front fairing features vertically stacked LED headlights, and the front indicators are integrated into the handlebar cowl accompanied by a smoked screen.

The LCD instrument cluster has Bluetooth connectivity, which facilitates a simple navigation function, and the 107kg Avenis 125 has two front storage compartments.

The left-hand front pocket also contains a USB outlet and a closable lid. There’s a roomy 21.8 litres of underseat storage.

The Avenis 125 has a combined braking system, which is the minimum standard for machines up to 125cc to meet the recently mandated Australian regulations. The front brake is disc and the rear a drum.

Final specifications, colours and pricing will be announced closer to the on-sale date.
