Benelli’s new-for-2018 retro-styled Leoncino has arrived in Australian dealerships carrying a ride-away price of $8990.
A modern take on a 1950s Benelli model bearing the same moniker, the Leoncino is a LAMS-approved scrambler looking to capitalise on the lucrative and popular retro bike market.
It’s powered by the same fuel-injected 500cc parallel-twin found in the firm’s recently released TRK502 adventure touring machine, though tipping the scales almost 50kg lighter, its 48hp and 45Nm should feel considerably more alive than its more hefty go-anywhere sibling.
Like the TRK, it’s suspended on a 50mm upside-down fork however rear shock is laterally mounted on the Leoncino compared to the conventional affair of the TRK. The radial-mounted front Brembo braking package which includes ABS is also shared with the firm’s latest adventure bike.
The Leoncino, which means ‘lion cub’ in Italian, boasts an accessible 815mm seat height, it tips the scales at an unintimidating 170kg (dry) and rolls on 17-inch rims shod with Pirelli Angel rubber.
It’s available now in three colour schemes; red, black or silver.
Bikesales will be riding the Leoncini at the Australian launch on Wednesday, March 28.
