Josh Strang (Suzuki) has completed an exceptional weekend for Australian motorcycle racers - and Suzuki -- in America by winning round three of the Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) series in North Carolina.
Strang's crushing victory over teammate Charles Mullins in then seven-lap race followed on from Chad Reed's stirring win in round 12 of the AMA Supercross Championship, and Mat Mladin's clean sweep in the second round of the superbike title.
All three riders are also backed by Suzuki.
In the GNCC, Strang was superb, and has now jumped to third in the standings after humbling teammate Mullins by 65 seconds, with New Zealander Paul Whibley (Kawasaki) a lonely third.
It was Strang's first win of the year, and he's now on 51pts, behind Whibley (76) and Mullins (71).
Whibley is the only rider to have finished on the dais in all three rounds, while Strang failed to finish the opener - a DNF which may prove costly in such a competitive title.
Meanwhile, a couple of unfancied competitors in Thaddeus Duvall (Yamaha) and Cory Buttrick (KTM) upstaged some of the other big guns to finish fourth and fifth.
Another Australian, former world enduro champion Shane Watts (KTNM, was 15th.
