As Casey Stoner's V8 Supercar career continues in Australia, he has denied rumours he is planning to make a comeback to MotoGP any time soon.
Inducted into the Order of Australia earlier this month as a Member (AM) for his "significant service to motorcycle racing", Casey Stoner told UK magazine Autosport he has no intention to return to MotoGP.
The two-time MotoGP world champion dismissed rumours that he would return to racing later in the year, possibly as a wildcard entrant at the Australian GP in October, stating: "I'm closed. I’m done with it".
He also refuted another rumour that gained momentum several weeks ago, that he was considering a return to the Ducati team, after being wooed by a huge paycheck courtesy of the Italian brand's new German owner, Audi.
Stoner revealed that he does miss riding motorcycles, but not enough to put up with the politics involved in MotoGP.
"Honestly the rest of it was too far out for me to want to, or think about, going back," said Stoner, whose relationship with MotoGP and Dorna boss, Carmelo Ezpeleta, turned sour in the final few years of his glittering motorcycle racing career.
The Australian champion said he still watched MotoGP racing on the TV, but now that he's driving a VE Holden Commodore Red Bull Racing Australia race car, he's focussed on the seven-round V8 Supercar feeder series.
