In a massive coup, brilliant American rider James Stewart will head to Sydney on November 28 to contest the Australian Open of Supercross (AUS-X Open) at the AllPhones Arena.
Stewart, currently under suspension by the FIM after failing a drug test in the 2014 AMA supercross title — he is ineligible to compete in any event until August 11, 2015 — will be making his first appearance in Australia. His arch-rival, Australia's Chad Reed, has also been announced as an AUS-X Open starter.
“I’m pumped to be heading down under… and to put on a night to remember for the Aussie fans,” said the 29-year-old from Florida. “The (indoor) arena style racing is hectic, because you have guys banging into you but the whole fan aspect of being really close and loud makes it exciting for us. When we put the helmet on, we'll race anything so; the louder you guys get, the more drama there'll be.”
The AUS-X Open will also include a freestyle motocross 'Best Trick’ competition.
The promoter of the event is offering spectators the opportunity to purchase tickets before the general public until Wednesday, April 29 at 12:00pm. Just click here and the password is AUSX.
