Team Honda Racing has elevated teenager Josh Hook onto a CBR1000RR to contest the 2013 Australian Superbike Championship. Hook’s team-mate will be veteran Jamie Stauffer, who will saddle up for his third year with the Motologic-run operation.
Hook, 19, finished second in the 2012 national supersport title for Team Honda, but a position became available on the superbike program with the departure of Wayne Maxwell. Hook already has on-the-job CBR1000RR experience, beginning with a low-profile state meeting before he finished eighth overall in the superbike support program at the 2012 Air Asia Motorcycle Grand Prix. Both events were at Phillip Island.
“I’m really looking forward to the 2013 ASBK season and I would like to thank Team Honda Racing for having the faith in my ability to move onto the superbike after just a year onboard the CBR600RR,” said Hook.
“The 2012 season was a good one for me and I have learnt so much being with Team Honda Racing already. I can’t wait to get testing and develop my skills on the CBR1000RR.”
The calendar for the 2013 ASBK title is yet to be announced.
