Stark Future has unveiled its latest electric model, describing the new VARG SM as the “world’s most advanced electric supermoto.”
The VARG SM follows the success of the VARG MX and VARG EX models, which have shaken up the electric motocross and enduro segments.
Australian pricing for the VARG SM starts at $21,990 (plus $1600 ride-away) for the 60hp version, rising to $22,990 (plus $1600 ride-away) for the 80hp Alpha version. Orders are open now via the Stark Future website, although delivery timeframes are yet to be confirmed.
Built on the same platform as the MX and EX, the new road-legal SM is powered by an advanced battery and powertrain capable of producing up to 80hp.
Stark claims a real-world range of 81km, extending to 118km for suburban riding and up to 183km in urban conditions.
Charging takes less than two hours, and Stark’s 3.3kW portable charger — light enough to fit in a backpack — is compatible with any household power outlet or AC car charger.
The bike rides on a high-strength steel frame with a forged aluminium subframe, while machined triple clamps are designed to deliver the ideal balance of stiffness and flex for supermoto-style riding.
Suspension duties are handled by a fully adjustable 48mm KYB closed-cartridge fork and a KYB triple-adjuster rear shock, offering 290mm and 303mm of travel front and rear respectively.
Like the MX and EX, the SM features a waterproof, shock-resistant display powered by Android, offering navigation, ride data, over-the-air updates, and full on-board tuning control. Customisable ride modes can be switched on the fly, allowing riders to tailor performance for commuting, stunt riding, or track sessions at the touch of a button.
Being road legal, the SM also comes equipped with flexible indicators, a headlight, and a licence plate holder. It additionally features a reverse function, built-in security measures, and an optional handlebar-mounted handbrake.
