Staring splits with Rivamoto

The relationship has lasted just one race meeting – Phillip Island – with a replacement rider for the Russian team to be announced shortly

Australian Bryan Staring is back in the road racing wilderness after splitting from his Rivamoto world supersport team. The relationship lasted just one round – the Aussie’s home race at Phillip Island in late February, where he failed to finish.

Rivamoto Team Manager Jeremy McWilliams said: “It is extremely disappointing that we cannot continue with Bryan. He is an extremely talented rider and we wish him well.

“Rivamoto has been and will continue to negotiate with our sponsors and potential new partners to ensure that we can complete the season. We have already held talks with a number of potential riders and are confident that we will be on the grid at Aragon.”

After losing his place in MotoGP at the end of 2013, Staring’s short-term road racing prospects were shaky until he came to a one-race agreement with Rivamoto, under the premise that a deal could be struck to see out the balance of the world supersport title. But that has now evaporated, which leaves the multiple Australian road racing champion again looking for a new partner to continue his career.
