A special-edition 2022 Kawasaki Z900RS SE was recently unveiled in Europe, but it appears unlikely to make its way to Australian shores.
The popular Kawasaki Z900RS blends the classic style of the original Z1 900 motorcycle with modern technology and a 948cc inline four-cylinder engine, but the new SE version adds high-spec components that increase performance.

As well as a unique ‘Yellow Ball’ pain scheme, the 2022 Kawasaki Z900RS SE also features high-end Brembo braking components and improved suspension including an Ohlins rear shock.
Other key features shared with the standard version include a two-mode traction control system, specially tuned exhaust note, a slip-and-assist clutch, and a digital/analogue dash.
Kawasaki UK list the 2022 Z900 RS SE at £12,499GBP (roughly $23,274AUD), with an arrival in dealerships expected in January/February 2022.
However a spokesman for Kawasaki Australia told bikesales that the new 2022 Kawasaki Z900RS SE is ‘unlikely’ to be imported to Australia.
The Kawasaki Z900RS Café won the 2018 bikesales Bike of the Year award, but that particular variant is no longer listed on the Kawasaki Australia website. The regular Kawasaki Z900RS is still available in Australia and checks in at $18,230 ride away. There is also the 2-cylinder-powered Kawasaki W800 Café and W800 Street available as part of the brand’s Retro Sport range.
Additionally, Kawasaki is gearing up to add to its Retro Sport range with a rumoured new Z650RS. The Japanese brand recently released a teaser video dubbed ‘Retrovolution’, but online sleuths are sure that it will be a 650cc twin based on the current Kawasaki Z650L.
Some websites have suggested there will be a full-power version as well as a restricted version of the new Z650RS, however Australia only imports the learner-approved version of the Z650 naked bike. It will likely be a similar story with an RS version.
