Sofuoglu prevails in a three-way Honda skirmish

Pips Pitt and West

Australians Andrew Pitt and Anthony West have finished second and third in today's Supersport World Championship race at Phillip Island.

The Aussie pair battled hard throughout, but they were eventually upstaged by Turkey's Kenan Sofuoglu in an all-Honda arm wrestle.

It was Sofuoglu's 12th world supersport win, with just 0.153secs separating the trio after 21 hard fought laps. Mark Aitchison (Honda) made it three Aussies in the top 10 back in sixth position.

Irishman Eugene Laverty (Honda) was fourth from rookie Yamaha rider Cal Crutchlow.

Camden's Garry McCoy briefly made it into the top 10 on his Triumph, but eventually finished 14th, while Russell Holland (Honda) and Shaun Geronimi (Suzuki) were 19th and 23rd respectively.
