The second of four teaser videos for the new Polaris Slingshot roadster has been released (see below), as we slowly piece together the building blocks of the reverse trike from the American powersports behemoth.
The latest is a 10-second video, with all the action taken on a twisty, mountainous road – which may give us a fair idea of the trike’s likely natural habitat. In between wide angle shots of the vista and some tighter action-cam activity, there is a close up of a passenger in the open cockpit wearing a traditional across the chest seat belt, and there’s also a millisecond grab of white-faced instrumentation. It also sounds like an internal combustion engine is at play -- reports suggest it’s a 2.4-litre GM Ecotec powerplant.
There’s also a woman sitting in the passenger seat who says that “I’ve never been on a ride like that”. That’s what we said after a first ride on a Polaris side-by-side vehicle in the Mojave Desert. If the Slingshot’s half as enjoyable as that, we’re in for a treat.
We’ve been in contact with the local arm of Polaris, and we should know soon enough whether the Slingshot will be coming to Australia.
The third teaser video will be released on July 14. To set the scene, here’s the first one.
