UK Premier League speedway team Sheffield Tigers has signed Australia's former Moto3 rider Arthur Sissis for the 2015 season.
It means a return to speedway for Sissis after previous experience on the shale before he forged a road racing career, first in the Red Bull Rookies Cup before graduating to the Moto3 world championship.
In 2014, he parted ways with Moto3 team Mahindra halfway through the season after a series of moderate results, and he's now returned to the vocation which saw him win two Australian U16 speedway titles.
Sheffield co-promoter Damien Bates said: “He can do some amazing things on a speedway bike and I don't think I've ever been more excited to see a rider join Sheffield, either as a fan or promoter.
"He's a level-headed lad, has plenty of experience racing in Europe in the GPs and he really wants to do well. He's very professional in every aspect. I think speedway's in his blood and GP racing's loss could be our gain."
Sissis will be joined by two compatriots in the Sheffield team, Ty Proctor and Taylor Poole, and the roster will be completed by Simon Stead, David Bellego, Ashley Birks and Josh Bates.
The season starts with a home match against Scunthorpe on March 26.
Sissis competed at last week's Australian Under 21 Speedway Championship in Kurri Kurri (NSW) in his first major meeting since returning to speedway, but the Adelaide rider struggled to make an impact in such a strong field. The event was won by rising star Max Fricke.
