American rider Nate Adams claimed victory at the third stop of the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour 2009 in Fort Worth (Texas) last Saturday, but it was Aussie Cameron Sinclair who stole the show by landing two double backflips.
The 24-year-old from Melbourne rode off with third place in the Lone Star state, with defending champion Mat Rebeaud second.
"There has never been a double backflip in competition before," said Sinclair. "I don't really care about the fact I was eliminated in the semis - I'm just happy I'm more or less healthy!"
Sinclair had to be helped off his bike after both tricks, as the hard landing from 10m saw the Aussie receive some serious bruising.
While Sinclair sent the 22,000 crowd into raptures, it was silent at the start of the evening as Frenchman Thomas Pagès attempted a frontflip and lost control of his bike. He had an injured hip to show for his troubles.
The winner of the last tour stop in Calgary, Australia's Robbie Maddison, dislocated a shoulder after landing heavily -- before popping it back in himself.
"I couldn't stop. The fans were just phenomenal and I really wanted to show one more trick," said Maddison, who was fifth in Texas.
Japan's Eigo Sato now leads the overall standings on 215pts, followed by Rebeaud (210pts) and Maddison (145pts). Both Sato and Rebeaud are still without a win in the 2009 season.
The tour continues in Madrid (July 16-17) before the season finale in London on August 22.
