Shoei’s new NXR2 sports-performance road-bike helmet has arrived, with the trusted Japanese brand’s next generation of affordable premium head protection benefitting from the latest in helmet design technology and cutting-edge manufacturing processes.
The much-anticipated NXR2 range takes over from the RF/NXR family of helmets. The versatile new line-up is ideal for all road-riding applications, from commuting and touring through to sports riding and the racetrack.
Spearheading the progression is a new multi-ply matrix shell that exceeds the recently updated ECE22.06 safety certification. As one of the first helmet models in Australia to receive this standard, riders can relax in the knowledge they’re wearing some of the best motorcycle head protection available.
With a shell constructed of hand-laid and interwoven layers of fibreglass and lightweight organic high-performance fibres, the NXR2 comes in four different outer shell sizes for a perfect fit, while a multi-density EPS foam liner provides superior impact absorption.
And should that protection be put to the test, the Shoei NXR2’s Emergency Quick Release System (EQRS) allows medical personnel to safely remove the helmet’s cheek pads, placing minimal loads on an injured rider’s head. The chin strap is secured by a dependable and fuss-free double D-ring buckle.
The Shoei NXR2’s new CWR-F2 visor represents yet another advance. Offering 99 per cent UV protection, the new design delivers improved visibility and functionality over its predecessor. ‘Vortex Generators’ improve aerodynamics and reduce wind noise, while an improved base plate system delivers even faster, smoother visor changes.
The NXR2’s visor comes with a PINLOCK EVO anti-fog shield that is now 10 per cent larger for improved lateral vision, while new air- and water-tight beading around the visor’s perimeter reduces the ingress of wind and water.
A product of extensive design and development in Shoei’s state-of-the-art wind-tunnel test facility, the new NXR2’s compact shell shape and integrated spoiler has led to significant gains in terms of aerodynamics and wind noise. This reduces rider fatigue, while a new ventilation system further enhances the wearer’s comfort.
Shoei research shows the new design reduces lift and drag by 6 per cent and 4 per cent respectively over the NXR it replaces, ultimately minimising the forces placed upon the rider’s head and neck, while strategically shaped air intake and exhaust vents further streamline the helmet’s profile.
The NXR2 features a total of six air intake vents and four outlets, with an increase in the size of the inlets and outlets – and the arrival of an additional air intake hole – providing optimal performance in hot conditions.
A fully removable, washable, replaceable and adjustable 3D MAX-DRY liner is said to absorb and dissipate sweat twice as fast as a standard Nylon liner, while providing a plush, comfortable fit.
Cheek pads in alternative thicknesses are also available (sold separately), while the ear pads can be removed to allow for the fitment of an intercom system.
The new Shoei NXR2 helmet range comes in a wide range of sizes in a choice of six graphics and six colours, the latter with matt, gloss and metallic options.
Available now from leading motorcycle dealerships and accessories stores across Australia, the Shoei NXR2 has recommended retail pricing from $799.90 for solid colours and $949.90 for graphics.
Shoei’s helmets embody expertise and know-how gleaned over more than 60 years, so it’s no wonder its products are worn and endorsed by some of the world’s best and most demanding riders – like eight-time MotoGP World Champion and Repsol Honda Team rider, Marc Marquez.
Now road and track riders of all levels can enjoy Shoei’s unwavering commitment to protection and performance in its new NXR2 range of helmets.
