The freshly-announced 2022 Suzuki GSX-S1000 marks the first major update for the brand’s race-bred street fighter since its introduction in 2015.
Now with Euro-5 compliance, the 2022 GSX-S1000 adopts a new visual design, an updated engine, and a host of new and updated electronic features.

Headlining the updates is the radical new styling that includes a new front end and LED lights, a new thin tail section, and bold new graphics.
The 999cc liquid-cooled inline four remains relatively unchanged, although Suzuki claims a smoother and more consistently powerful output, especially through the low-to-mid range commonly used in day-to-day riding. Power has increased slightly to 112kW at 11,000rpm, while peak torque has dropped marginally to 106Nm at 9250rpm.
To achieve the engine improvements and Euro-5 compliance, Suzuki has updated the layout of the exhaust system, refined the fuel injection system, and added a new clutch assist system, which provides smoother deceleration and better control when downshifting.
The chassis has also been refined with a new handlebar, a bigger fuel tank, and new Dunlop Sportmax Roadsport2 tyres.
Aside from styling, the biggest change is in the electronics department which includes a new Suzuki Drive Mode Selector, an updated traction control system, a new ride-by-wire electronic throttle system, a new bi-directional quick shift system, and an updated low RPM assist function.
The updated 2022 Suzuki GSX-S1000 comes in three colours – Metallic Triton Blue, Glass Matte Mechanical Grey, and Glass Sparkle Black.
Suzuki has indicated that the bike will arrive in Australia in the first quarter of 2022, with pricing information expected to be announced closer to the release date.
