Second date announced for AUS-X Open

Australian Open of Supercross expands showdown after first night sellout

The Australian Open of Supercross (AUS-X Open) will add another high-energy showdown for Australian fans, after the initial November 28 date at AllPhones Arena, sold-out in just days.

The second day will take place on Sunday afternoon (2:30pm) November 29 with all tickets including VIP and General Admission available.

"We didn’t want a single fan missing out what is set to be the biggest action sports event in Australian history," stated event director Adam Bailey.

"We have the world’s best Supercross and Freestyle Motocross riders heading to Sydney, and to have every seat at Allphones Arena completely sold out already, meant we had no choice but to give the fans what they’ve been calling out for; more racing, more insane FMX action and more entertainment."

Dual World Supercross Champions James Stewart and Chad Reed have both been confirmed for the racing element of the event, taking it up against Australia’s best riding talent.

Reed is excited to be heading back to Aussie shores to showcase the sport of Supercross to his hometown fans.

"To add a second date to the AUS-X Open is such a massive win for Aussie racing fans and I can’t wait to put on a showstopper for everyone," said Reed.

"Supercross is constantly evolving and for the AUS-X Open to sell out in a week, just proves that there’s a huge audience of passionate fans, ready to see the best motorsport there is, in the comfort of an indoor stadium!" stated Reed.

Whilst two of the biggest names in Supercross history have been confirmed for both nights of the AUS-X Open, the FMX rider line-up still remains tightly sealed with some big announcements to be revealed later this week.

Organisers says that the AUS-X Open event will be the biggest action sports competition in the Southern Hemisphere; combining an international Supercross racing event with a Freestyle Motocross (FMX) ‘Best Trick’ competition, both featuring some of the world's best riders up against Australia’s best talent.

Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events and Minister for Sport Stuart Ayres said the addition of a second event is great news for motorsport fans.

"With the first AUS-X Open event now sold out, I am pleased to see a second event on the calendar for fans of action sport and motorcross racing. Both events has been secured for Sydney by the NSW Government through our tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW, and promise to attract thousands of visitors to Allphones Arena on November 28 and 29," he said.

Tickets are available through Ticketek www.ticketek.com.  For more event information go to www.ausxopen.com.
