Former 500cc GP rider Richard Scott will be reunited with a pair of 250cc Yamahas that played a vital part in his career when he saddles up for the fifth running of the Honda Broadford Bike Bonanza (HBBB) this Easter (March 30-31).
In 1983, Scott finished second in the Australian 250cc Grand Prix at Bathurst riding the special Yamaha TZ250K which was fitted with a British Spondon aluminium frame, but went on to take the 250cc Australian championship in the same year. The following year he appeared on a new TZ250L, winning at Bathurst and taking out the 350cc championship from Jeff Sayle and Don Osborne.
Both bikes were owned by Sydney film producer Peter Addison and, after losing track of the Yamahas for many years, he has now restored both to their former glory.
“Having Richard back on the bikes will be a real trip back in time,” said Addison. “We had some great times over the two years we raced together, including a trip to Daytona to contest the 250 race there.”
At the gala dinner on Easter Saturday night, Scott will be interviewed about his racing career both in Australia and New Zealand, and in Europe as a member of the Kenny Roberts Lucky Strike team.
The 2013 Honda Broadford Bike Bonanza will take place at the State Motorcycle Sports Complex in Broadford.
