KTM Off-Road Team’s Daniel Sanders has won the opening two rounds of the 2016 Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC) in Kilkivan, Qld.
On Saturday, the 21-year-old defeated Husqvarna's Lachlan Stanford and Yama's Josh Green, and on Sunday he got the job done over Green and Stanford. But it was a close call on in round two, with Sanders only winning by just under one second.
“It’s a great way to start the year off and a fantastic way to reward the team for all the hard work they have done during the off season,” said Sanders. “We have a few weeks off now until the next round, so I’ll keep training as hard as I can and see what we can do at Portland in April.”
Meanwhile, Tye Simmonds (KTM) went 4-5 across the two days, and other leading lights included Chris Hollis (Yamaha, 6-5) and Beau Ralston (Yamaha, 4-6).
Rounds three and four will be held in Portland, NSW on April 9-10.
