Safety recall: Can-Am SSVs

The ACCC has issued a safety recall that affects most of its side-by-side vehicles from model year 2011 onwards

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission has issued a product safety recall for Can-Am side-by-side vehicles that affects all model year 2011 and 2012 SSVs, plus any model year 2013 SSV excepting units with a factory-fitted front grill kit.

According to the recall notice, affected vehicles may accumulate a “significant quantity of floating debris … in a short period of time in the exhaust area” when driven through water that is at least 310mm deep, which could potentially “lead to a vehicle fire when the exhaust pipe is hot and the debris is dry”.

Owners have been advised that if they don’t ride their SSV in conditions where such debris is likely to accumulate they may continue to use their vehicle in the normal manner, but anyone who does should contact their authorised Can-Am dealer from December 5, 2012, to have a front grill kit fitted free of charge.

See your nearest Can-Am dealer for more information.
