
The recession and mortgage crisis in the USA is having its inevitable ripple effect, with motorcycle sales overall reported to be softening and the 50-year-old S&S Cycle aftermarket company laying off 60 of its 155 employees.
It's a clear sign that people have been cutting back their discretionary spending, with luxuries like the gear S&S does so well probably among the first to go.
Company President Brett Smith said, "This was a very, very hard decision personally. People I've known for years were impacted."
