BMW Motorrad's S 1000 RR sportsbike now comes with the marque's Sport Package as standard, the inclusion adding the benefits of Race ABS and Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) to the model's list of regular features.
Previously a $2500 option, the addition of Race ABS and DTC will prove incredibly tempting for anyone currently weighing up their options in the litre-class sportsbike market.
At $22,290 (plus on-road costs), the S 1000 RR represents a wealth of electronic wizardry for the money, boasting features such as 'ride by wire' throttle actuation, four rider-selectable ride modes (rain, sport, race and slick), an electronic Gear Shift Assistance, an advanced ride computer, and - now - the added safety of Race ABS and traction control. The ABS/DTC features work hand in hand with the bike's four ride modes, offering greater or lesser intervention depending on the ride mode selected.
According to BMW Motorrad's National Manager, Tony Sesto, the model's recent sporting success has seen a corresponding spike in owners demanding the ABS/DTC features. "With Glenn Allerton dominating the Australian Superbike Championship on an almost stock S 1000 RR, the performance capabilities profile of the bike has increased significantly and so too has demand for the sports options," he said.
