The new Ryvid Anthem promises to usher in a new era of affordable electric motorcycles, says the fledgling American company, with the bike set to go on sale in the US on August 14, 2022, priced at US$7800 (approximately A$11,225). First deliveries are anticipated to commence in mid-2023.

Based in Irvine, California, the Ryvid Anthem is the first model produced by the start-up, but rather than targeting the upper end of the EV buying spectrum, as Harley-Davidson has done with its LiveWire, the firm is taking an altogether different approach.
Despite its relatively affordable price tag, the Ryvid Anthem still boasts some impressive specs, with a claimed top speed of over 120km/h and a range of around 120 kilometres in Eco mode, or 80 kilometres in Sport mode (without regenerative braking).

Peak torque is quoted at 72Nm, while Ryvid says the bike weighs in at a kerb weight of 109kg, making for some impressive real-world acceleration.
It’s compact too, with a wheelbase of 1321mm, while the Ryvid Anthem rolls on 17-inch wheels. The suspension is adjustable for preload up front and preload and rebound damping at the rear.

The company says a full charge takes three hours with a 220-volt power supply or six hours with a 110-volt source, while it costs 0.25c/kWh to charge, meaning a full charge costs a little over US$1 (approximately A$1.44).

Fully street legal in the US with full Department of Transport certification, the Ryvid Anthem will initially only be available in a special ‘launch edition’ format, limited to 1000 bikes and featuring a unique livery, a raw stainless steel frame, electric seat height adjustment and serialised launch-edition engraving.

And while the bike will only be sold in the United States (excluding Alaska and Hawaii), it will serve as a showcase for the emerging company’s skills and talent, and a spearhead for future models to come.
Founded by CEO Dong Tran and staffed with engineers and designers boasting a wealth of international automotive industry experience, the Ryvid Anthem features a removable 4.3kWh battery pack with wheels, so the 30kg unit can easily be rolled to the nearest charging outlet and/or swapped over with a second battery.

Other notable features include propriety technology that allows the seat height to be adjusted from 30in to 34in (762mm to 864mm), a 4.9in TFT display, a proprietary lightweight stainless-steel chassis and a rear drive assembly with integrated motor and variable-ratio final (belt) drive.

“The Ryvid Anthem is a completely fresh take on two-wheeled EV mobility,” states the Ryvid website. “Proprietary technology includes a bespoke, lightweight stainless-steel chassis, Ergo-Easy adjustable ride height, and a removable battery pack for easy charging.

“The Anthem’s ground-breaking tech is cloaked beneath minimal, sleek bodywork. A premium product at an accessible price point, our launch bike blazes the trail for a line-up that will transform how the world rides.”
