Rutledge continues hot MX form

The Aussie has claimed overall honours in round three of the 2014 world women's motocross title, and is now just two points off the outright lead

Kawasaki-backed Meghan Rutledge has continued her hot streak in the 2014 world women’s motocross title, claiming two second places at round three in the Netherlands on May 3-4.

She is now just two points behind Italian Chiara Fontanesi (Yamaha) in the championship battle. Irishwoman Natalie Kane is in second place on her KTM.

"I had a rough start to the round with some minor technical issues but pushed through for two consistent moto results,” said Rutledge. “I'm so pleased to take the overall for the weekend and put myself a few points closer to achieving my dream. I'm stoked."

Rutledge got off to a tough start in moto one and had to pass riders to work her way up to second place. In the second, she scored the holeshot before dropping two places, but made up one by the end of the 26-muinute battle.

In six races so far, Rutledge has three wins, two second places and a disqualification.

The next round of the championship will take place in France on June 1.
