Royal Enfield has revealed the latest addition to its 650 Twin range, with the custom-inspired Shotgun 650 cruiser expected to be officially launched in the coming weeks.
Based on the SG650 concept that was revealed at EICMA in 2021, the Shotgun 650 was presented to punters at the annual Motoverse festival in Goa, India. Motoverse is a motorcycling and music festival organised by Royal Enfield.
Royal Enfield CEO Siddartha Lal told the Motoverse crowd that the Shotgun 650 is “a bastard child, because it nothing and everything at the same time”. He explained that it is “not a cruiser, not a bobber, not a roadster”, but that it is “lovely to ride”. He also went on to say that the idea was born out of the custom scene.
While specification is yet to be revealed, it appears the Shotgun 650 utilises the same platform as the previous 650 Twin models, but adds a custom look and feel, with cyberpunk-inspired graphics to match.
Judging by early images, the Shotgun 650 will not adopt the high-tech improvements of the new Himalayan 450. That means no round TFT display, ride modes, liquid-cooling, or in-built navigation. Like previous 650s, however, it will feature the Tripper Navigation module.
The cyberpunk colourway has been taken straight from the concept version, but only 25 units of that scheme were made available to Motoverse attendees. The remaining colour schemes that will be available to the general public are yet to be revealed.
The Shotgun 650 caps off a relatively busy year for the British-born, Indian-owned company, with 2023 releases including the Super Meteor 650 crusier, Hunter 350, the Bullet 350, and the all-new Himalayan 450 adventure bike. The brand also bought a stake in electric off-road brand Stark Future and showed off an electric Himalayan concept at EICMA.
