Retro marque Royal Enfield is ramping up its production yet again, with the commissioning of another new production facility to complement its existing sites in Thiruvottiyur and Oragadam, both in the Indian city of Chennai.
Located near Chennai at Vallam Vadagal, the massive new site sprawls over 50 acres and begins production with an initial capacity of 300,000 motorcycles per year.
Royal Enfield says the new plant will boost the company's total annual production over the 2017 to 2018 financial year to 825,000 units, up from 667,135 units in the year prior.
The site was purchased by Royal Enfield in 2014, with the construction of the facility taking just 15 months.
The company says its sales have grown at a compounded rate of over 55 per cent over the past six years.
The opening of this new production facility will help it realise its next phase of growth as it seeks to continue to expand international and domestic footprint.
