Royal Enfield launches 2023 Super Meteor 650

The 2023 Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 is the latest addition to the brand's flagship range

Royal Enfield has officially launched the 2023 Super Meteor 650, with the anticipated middleweight cruiser set to arrive on Australian shores in the coming months.

While Australian pricing is yet to be announced, the India-based manufacturer has revealed pricing for Europe and the UK, with the Super Meteor checking in at €7890 and £6799 in those regions respectively. Local pricing will likely fall between $12,000 to $13,000 ride away.

Two variants will be made available, with the up-spec Tourer version adding a pillion backrest and a windshield. Royal Enfield will also offer a wide range of apparel and accessories.

“The Super Meteor 650 is an authentic retro-cruiser in every sense,” said Eicher Motors Managing Director, Siddhartha Lal. “Its design language, its geometry, its form factor and the gorgeous 650cc twin engine make it an enjoyable motorcycle on highways and open roads.

“We developed this motorcycle intending to make cruising pleasurable for those who never considered this form of motorcycling, and we are happy that it has turned out to do just that.”

The Super Meteor 650 is the latest model to feature the 648cc air/oil-cooled parallel-twin engine that debuted in the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 in 2018. It puts out similar power figures to the existing 650 models, with 34.6kW at 7250rpm and 52.3Nm at 5650rpm. The only powerplant updates are a new airbox and exhaust system.

But despite minimal changes to the engine, the Super Meteor is otherwise an all-new machine, with a new chassis designed for relaxed highway cruising. Royal Enfield has also added a Showa upside down fork and LED lighting – both firsts for the brand.

The launch of the Super Meteor 650 comes five years after the release of the original 650 models. In the time since, Royal Enfield has released four new single-cylinder machines including the Meteor 350, the Classic 350, the Hunter 350, and the Scram 411.

Further information on an Australian arrival and pricing for the 2023 Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 is expected in the coming weeks.
