The Super Meteor 650 is the latest model to feature the 648cc air/oil-cooled parallel-twin engine that debuted in the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 in 2018. It puts out similar power figures to the existing 650 models, with 34.6kW at 7250rpm and 52.3Nm at 5650rpm. The only powerplant updates are a new airbox and exhaust system.
But despite minimal changes to the engine, the Super Meteor is otherwise an all-new machine, with a new chassis designed for relaxed highway cruising. Royal Enfield has also added a Showa upside down fork and LED lighting – both firsts for the brand.
bikesales was recently invited to Jaisalmer, India, to test-ride the all-new model at the international media launch. You can read the full review here.
The launch of the Super Meteor 650 comes five years after the release of the original 650 models. In the time since, Royal Enfield has released four new single-cylinder machines including the Meteor 350, the Classic 350, the Hunter 350, and the Scram 411.
Further information on an Australian arrival and pricing for the 2023 Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 is expected in the coming weeks.
