A custom bike builder from Sydney has transformed his 2020 Royal Enfield Himalayan adventure bike into a classically-styled scrambler.
Tommy Thöring, who goes by the name Schlachtwerks, describes the concoction as a ‘classic enduro’ and has given it the simple moniker of #38. The name is a reference to the number of custom bikes that he has created.

Inspired by classic enduro bikes from the 80s, Tommy’s aim was to strip weight off the bike, while making it more off-road friendly. He admitted that it was tough to source parts for the project during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The custom Himalayan has been fitted with a pair of custom aluminium wheels, a Royal Enfield touring bar, a MotoGadget mini speedo, an enduro-style headlight unit, hand built aluminium front and rear guards, a new taillight, a touring seat and flat rack, a stainless-steel exhaust and a YSS rear shock.
In stock trim, the Royal Enfield Himalayan weighs in at 191kg, but Tommy’s custom scrambler checks in at a very impressive 160.5kg wet.
Powered by 411cc single-cylinder engine, the Himalayan is designed as a learner-approved and budget-friendly adventure bike. Tommy’s custom build adds a more off-road edge to the machine.
Tommy is originally from Frankfurt, Germany, but now works at Surfside Motorcycles in Brookvale on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
